The Emmanuel College Highlanders at The University of Queensland were brought together in 2016 under Pipe Major Jason Palfrey and Drum Sergeant Kat Lavercombe.
The band performs regularly at a variety of events in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales, proudly representing the College and the University.
In late 2018 Pipe Bands Australia recommended the band be promoted to Grade 2. Since its beginning, the band has been successful as the Grade 3 Queensland Champions two years in a row and came second in the 2018 Australian Pipe Band Championships.
The band’s patron is Michael Bryce AM AE KStJ and the tartan worn is Stewart of Appin.
Band membership is open to all members of the College, the University, and those from the wider community.
